The Amara River Cruise is a traditional Myanmar riverboat travelling along the Ayeyarwaddy River. It is made of teak wood and was completely refurbished by local craftsmen in 2003. It is 30 meters / 100 feet long and with a shallow draft of 1 meter / 3 feet and two Japan made 180hp Hino engines it can go as far north as Bhamo. The Amara River Cruise has a total of seven cabins, each with their own bathroom with hot and cold shower. Communal areas, bar and canopied sun deck. Electricity is provided by a generator and battery 24 hours a day. Safety is provided by smoke detectors in all cabins, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, life jackets and a dinghy. Amenities include on-board laundry, fully equipped kitchen and refrigerators. All bed linen and towels as well as dining service and bar equipment are provided. You will be taken care of by our friendly and hospitable staff and be able to relax and enjoy the personal atmosphere on board.

Program 1 : MANDALAY to BAMAW
Day 1 Mandaly Jetty - Shinemaga Check in on board the Amara River Cruise at 08:00 am. We sail north of Mandalay along Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun with the Mingun Bell, weighing 90 tones and the biggest hanging undamaged bell in the world; Shin Phyume Pagoda, and the unfinished Mingun Pagoda, a colossal brick monument. After sightseeing set sail and cruise north the Ayarwaddy River till the town of Sheinmaga. (Meals: L / D )
Day 2 Sheinmaga - Thabeikkyin We leave Sheinmaga at 06:00 am and sail this day till Thabeikkyin. Visit to Nwe Nyein (Pottery Village). We will pass the Third Defile. The river banks get hilly and from now on covered with Teak forest. Small villages along the river life from the trade of wood and fishing. (Meals: B / L / D )
Day 3 Thabeikkyin - Tagaung Set sail at 06:00 am. Our journey will continue upstream until Tagaung, one of the oldest capitals of Myanmar. Excursion into Tagaung. Overnight and dinner on board the Amara just north of Tagaung. (Meals: B / L / D)
Day 4 Tagaung - Katha Set sail at 06:00 am. This day we will reach till Katha, a beautiful town with a colorful market, friendly people and a unique atmosphere. Katha is known from the book “Burmese Days”, written by George Orwell. Dinner and overnight on board the Amara, moored near the harbor of Katha. (Meals: B / L / D)
Day 5 Katha - Shwegu Depart from Katha at 06:00 am and sail this day till Shwegu. This day is a good chance to see the famous Ayeyarwaddy Dolphin, quite common in this area. Amara will stop at the opposite river bank of Shwegu near the pagodas of Shwe Baw Kyunn Thousands of pagodas can be found at this place, probably built around the 10th century.(Meals: B / L / D)
Day 6 Shwegu - Bamaw Set sail at 08:00 am. We will pass the Second Defile this day. At this place the river banks become a steep cliff. The scenery is amazing and offers a beautiful scenery. In the afternoon the Amara will arrive in Bamaw, the most northern place the Amara can reach. Overnight and dinner on board the Amara. (Meals: B / L / D )

Program 2 : BAMAW to MANDALAY
Day 1 Bamaw Check in on board the Amara River Cruise at Afternoon. (Meals: D )
Day 2 Bamaw - Shwegu Set sail at 8:00 am. On the way, we will pass the beautiful Second Defile. The river banks become a steep cliff and the river bottom drops away to extreme depths. The river scene is amazing and offers beautiful scenery. In the afternoon, we arrive in Shwegu and visit the pagodas of Shwe Baw Kyunn on the opposite river bank of Shwegu, where the Amara will stop for overnight. (Meals: B / L / D )
Day 3 Shwegu - Katha We leave Shwegu in the morning at 8:00 am. The scenery along the river is beautiful with small villages and dense tropical forest. This day is a good chance to see the famous Ayeyarwaddy Dolphin, quite common in this area. In the afternoon, we will reach Katha, a beautiful town with an interesting market, friendly people, and a unique atmosphere. Katha is known from the book “Burmese Days” written by George Orwell. Dinner and overnight on board the Amara. (Meals: B / L / D )
Day 4 Katha - Tagaung Set sail at 8:00 am. Our journey will continue downstream until Tagaung, one of the oldest capitals of Myanmar. Proceed for sightseeing at Tagaung. Overnight and dinner on board the Amara just south of Tagaung. (Meals: B / L / D )
Day 5 Tagaung - Kyaukmyaung Set sail at 8:00 am. We continued until Thabeikkyin. We will pass the Third Defile. This area is covered with dense teak forest. Dinner and overnight on board the Amara near Kyaukmyaung. (Meals: B / L / D )
Day 6 Kyaukmyaung - Mandalay Jetty Set sail at 8:00 am down stream to Nwe Nyein (potery village). After sightseeing sailing down stream to Mingun with the Mingun Bell, weighing 90 tones and the biggest hanging undamaged bell in the world; Shin Phyume Pagoda, and the unfinished Mingun Pagoda, a colossal brick monument. After visit to Mingun then set sail to Mandalay. Check out after arrival at Mandalay Jetty. (Check Out Time Afternoon) (Meals: B / L )

Day 1 Mandalay Jetty - Mingun - Sagaing Check in on board the Amara River Cruise at 10:00 am. We sail north of Mandalay along Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun with the Mingun Bell, weighing 90 tones and the biggest hanging undamaged bell in the world; Shin Phyume Pagoda, and the unfinished Mingun Pagoda, a colossal brick monument. After sightseeing set sail and cruise to Sagaing. Sightseeing Sagaing Pagodas and Monasteries in the Afternoon by foot or horses cart. (Meals: L / D )
Day 2 Sagaing - Inwa - Semikhong After sunrise cruising to Inwa (Ava).Visit to Nan Myint Watch Tower, the only remaining palace building nicknamed "leaning tower of Ava"; Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, built of brick and stucco and the all-teak and carved BAGAYA Monastery. We sail downstream, on the way visit Semikhong Village with it's old wooden monasteries and colorful market. Overnight at a sandbank.(Meals: B / L / D )
Day 3 Semikhong - Mt. Tangyi In the early morning, set sail and cruising, passing Bagan and stop at the river bank of Mt. Tangyi. Climbing Mt. Tangyi in the Afternoon by food or car. From the Pagoda you enjoy the evening view to Bagan. Dinner and overnight at a sandbank. (Meals: B / L / D )
Day 4 Mt. Tangyi - Bagan Jetty In the early morning, set sail and arrive to Bagan Jetty. Check out at 08:00 am. (Meals: B )

Program 4 : BAGAN to MANDALAY
Day 1 Bagan Jetty - Mt. Tangyi Check in on board the Amara River Cruise at 3:00 pm. Start cruising to the shore of Mt. Tangyi. Climbing Mt. Tangyi in the Afternoon by food or car. From the Pagoda you enjoy the evening view to Bagan. Dinner and overnight at a sandbank. (Meals: D )
Day 2 Mt. Tangyi - Yandabo Set sail at 6:00 am for Mandalay and in the afternoon arrive to Yandabo, a small rural village that is well known for a treaty signed here between the British and Burmese in 1826. Now the village is famous for its handmade terracotta pots produced in traditional ways. Overnight at sandbank.(Meals: B / L / D )
Day 3 Yandabo - Inwa We sail up north until Mandalay and on the way visit to Semikhong Village. Continue cruising and arrive at Inwa (Ava) in the late afternoon. Visit to Nan Myint Watch Tower, the only remaining palace building nicknamed "leaning tower of Ava, Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, built of brick and stucco and the all-teak and carved BAGAYA Monastery. Overnight at Sagaing.(Meals: B / L / D )
Day 4 Inwa - Sagaing - Mandalay Jetty After breakfast sightseeing Sagaing Pagodas and Monasteries in the morning sun by foot or horsecart. After sightseeing set sail to Mandalay City and stop at Yetty. Check Out Time 12:00 am.(Meals: B )

Important Notice
For all season departure should the occupancy be less than 6 passengers the company reserves the right to cancel the cruise up to 30days prior the departure date. A confirmation notice in writing will be released by the company to all booked clients within and not later than 30 days before the departure date. In case of cancellation all down payments will be immediately refunded.
Terms and Conditions
Medical and Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is strongly advised. You should be covered in the event of cancellation or curtailment, death, any medical or rescue expenses, as well as for any loss of baggage, money or personal items.
Children’s Rates
Child costs are based on sharing a room with adults and using existing bedding. Cost for additional bedding is available on request.
Payment
Once reservations have been confirmed, a deposit of 25% is required to hold reservation. Full payment is required 1 month prior to arrival.
Cancellations
60 30 days ahead trip departure 25% of amount
29 15 days ahead trip departure 75% of amount
14 0 days ahead trip departure 100% of amount
Important is receiving date of cancellation form.
Refund
All refund requests must be in writing and made direct to us or through the agent from whom the travel arrangements were purchased. Claims must be made within 15days of completion of travel arrangements. Refunds will not be made for booking cancelled due to inclement weather or illness, these must be claimed through your travel insurance.
Responsibilities
Amara River Cruise is not responsible for any injuries, accidents, losses, theft, sickness, delays from weather or other causes beyond their control, so as war, strike, quarantine.
