Itinerary

Day 1 ARRIVAL

Welcome to the Garden City Yangon.
Arrive by either morning or afternoon flight to Yangon International Airport. Then, transfer to hotel. Here we would like to reserve enough time for you to take a good rest that you may need after a long tedious flight. Therefore, sightseeing in Yangon is transferred to the day before departure that you will enjoy for the whole day.

Day 2 YANGON / SITTWE / MRAUK-U

After breakfast, transfer to airport for flight to Sittwe. ETA at Sittwe 1:30 p.m and then, proceed to jetty for Mrauk-U ( 6 hours trip ) by chartered boat. Light lunch on board will be arranged. ETA at Mrauk-U 19:30 p.m and check-in at hotel. Dinner at Waythali restaurant that is known to be the best at Mrauk-U, and overnight.

(Note! Although Mrauk-U is a very interesting place, it is very difficult for accessibility and there are few visitors going to that place. As there is no air-conditioned bus the visitors have to rely on old jeeps from Second World War.)

Day 3 MRAUK-U

After breakfast, morning sightseeing of Mrauk-U, an ancient city of Rakhine Kingdom (15th century ), begins with Min Kaung Shwe Gu stupa, well known for stand stone carvings. Then visit to the famous picturesque place Pay Si five Buddha Images. After visit, a short bustling to typical Rakhine village to experience their ways of life. After a short stroll, visit to 16th century Rakhine style Kothaung temple, known to be 90’000 Buddhas. So make sure not to leave out any single Buddha while visiting.

Sakya-Man-Aung, a tall attenuated stupa guarded by remarkable two protectors, and then a short stroll along the old palace site excavation that might take about 45 minutes. Lunch at Waythali restaurant.

Afternoon sightseeing begins with massive Shitthaung-Paya, a curiously remarkable temple with countless Buddha images and reliefs, Andawthein with its unique stone carvings and floral designs and the fortress-like temple; Htaukkan-Thein, noted for the interesting stone sculptures in the vaulted passages. In the evening after visiting Anawmar Pagoda, enjoy the view from Hari hill. Dinner at Waythali restaurant and overnight at hotel.

Day 4 MRAUK-U – Tribal village ( Day trip )

After breakfast proceed by boat to Chin tribal village by small boat that is motivate by a small engine. The up stream along the Lay Myo river will take about 2 hours and no one will get board while passing through the true nature and scenic views. Finally, arrive at this typical village where one can experience their way of life and amazing face tattooed Chin ladies.

Here is the time to listen the traditional believes of these villagers from your local guide. Lunch box will be arranged or adventurous local lunch can be arranged at the village i.e. rice & delicious chicken curry will be prepared on your request. Return the same way back and that calls for the day. Dinner at Waythali restaurants. Overnight at hotel.

Day 5 MRAUK-U – SITTWE – YANGON

After breakfast at hotel check-out and transfer to jetty and for Sittwe. Arrive at Sittwe, Lunch at local restaurant. Then transfer to airport for flight back to Yangon.

REMARKS

  1. At present Yangon / Sittwe flights operating twice a week (Wednesday and Sunday )
  2. It is not very interesting to visit Dhanyawaddy and Vesali even though they are older than Mrauk-U because there are now very few interesting sites left for sightseeing.
