BIKING (CYCLING) AROUND MYANMAR


Do not miss our special biking ( cycling ) tour around Myanmar. Not only our special program, but also glad to do the tailor made one.

Your cycling round Myanmar will cut through quiet back-roads between rice fields, temples, and scenic countryside. Passing through many small villages, you will find the people curious, friendly and polite. We will share the road with ox carts, other cyclists, and excited children. Most rides are on country lanes with almost lack of traffic.

HIGHLIGHTS
1. The history and culture of Mandalay, and the temples and archaeological sites of Bagan.
2.The comfort and service of hotels, and the trip is fully supported and an air-conditioned car / bus will follow you for the entire journey as well as truck for carrying the bicycle(s) on some part of the ways.
3. As we ride along major arteries, riders can find their own pace and meet up at prearranged points along the way. The range of surfaces and incredible variety of rides on this tour will ensure that every kind of cyclist is satisfied.

DAY 01 ARRIVAL by flight TG – 305 (1905-2135) or 8M–340 (2030-2115)
Meet on arrival at Yangon Airport and transfer to hotel. Free at leisure, Dinner at local restaurant and overnight at Yuzana Hotel.

DAY 02 YANGON
After breakfast at hotel, visit Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda, a colossal reclining Buddha Image and Maha Bandoola Park with Independence Monument and Sule Pagoda, located at the heart of the Yangon City. There are still many photo shops around the Sule Pagoda which exist since the British time and you could have a black & white photo of yourself taken with an antique camera.

Afternoon visit the Bogyoke market- a shopping market with more than 2000 shops selling all kinds of products but of special mention is the beautiful exotic “Shan Bag” velvet slippers, lacquer ware and all sorts of handicraft.

Then evening visit to the 2,500 years old magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda sheathed in 11 tons of pure gold and 4,350 diamonds weighing 1800 carats! At sunset, the Shwedagon offers visitor a spectacular show of lights and shadows. Lunch and dinner at local restaurant.

Overnight at Yuzana Hotel.

DAY 03 YANGON - PYAY
After breakfast, start your first biking day in Myanmar to Pyay 288 Km north-west of Yangon on the eastern banks of the Ayeyarwady River.

If time permit, visit en route Shwemyethman Pagoda ( Buddha with the golden spectacles ) and Shwenatt Taung Pagoda.

Lunch and dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at Mingalar Garden Hotel.

DAY 04 PYAY
After breakfast at Hotel, whole day biking tour includes: Sri Ksetra, the ancient Pyu capital in the nearby locations. Tour continues to Shwesandaw Pagoda, the main point in the heart of the town.

Hpayagyi. Then to Archeological museum and Hmawza Village, Bawbawgyi, Be Be paya, Hpayama, Nat Shrine, Yahanda-Gu, Mingyi taung Caves etc.

In the evening visit to night market. Lunch and dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at Mingalar Garden Resort.

DAY 05 PYAY – MAGWAY
After breakfast, start early and bike from the hotel (Car & guide are following the bikers). You will pass the fields and small town like Aung Lan & Taung Dwin Gyi. Arriving Magway, you will have a unique experience of staying overnight in a Guest House. If time permit, visit to the Mya Thalon Pagoda and enjoy the early evening tour in Magway. Lunch and dinner.

DAY 06 MAGWAY – MT.POPA
After breakfast, ride a bike to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano, on the way pass through Ye Nan Gyaung, Gway Cho & Kyaukpadaung. Mount Popa has played an important role in Myanmar culture, religion and history since the earliest times. Its shrine is dedicated to the worship of the 37 Nats, the Burmese ancient animist spirits. Lunch at local restaurant.

Then view over the Plain from the top of the Popa-Taung Kalat volcanic peak is simply breathtaking. Overnight at the Guest House.Lunch and dinner

DAY 07 MT.POPA – BAGAN
After breakfast, start a bike to Bagan passing small settlements where men climb up the palm trees to collect the juice of it to make sugar or liquor.

On the way to Bagan, visit Minnan Thu village to see the typical Myamar style of village life. Then proceed to Lay Myathna and Phaya Thonezu Temple and have a stroll among the ruin temple. Overview of Bagan temple from nearby temple called Tayoke Pyay and that calls for that day. Biking along the ancient Bagan. Lunch and dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at Athawka Hotel. DAY 08 BAGAN
After breakfast at the hotel, biking tour to Nyaung Oo Market which is very active in the morning not only for the local people but also for the tourists, then continue to the Shwezigon Pagoda a prototype of later Myanmar stupa. Then to Wetkyi-in Gubyaukkyi Temple with fine mural pain-tings of Jataka scenes. Lunch at outside local restaurant.

Afternoon sightseeing tour continues with visits to lacquerware industry where you can study traditional Myanmar lacquerware making, Manuha Temple with gigantic Buddha images, a captive king's impression of life in prison; Nanpaya, an Early-style temple with the finest stone carvings. Although it has spots lights installed, it would be safer to bring your own touch as electricity supply can be shut-off from time to time.

In the evening you will be visiting the Ananda Temple, an architectural masterpiece resembling a Greek Cross. Dinner at outside local restaurants. Then return to hotel and overnight at Athawka Hotel.

DAY 09 BAGAN - MANDALAY
After breakfast, start early and bike from the hotel. Riding through a landscape of local villages and scenic fields where farmers are working and children are playing. On the way there are plenty of interesting places to stop and take a rest or to have a chat with the local people. On the way passing through Myingyan, Sint Gai, Kyaukse etc… Evening arrive Mandalay. Lunch and dinner at local restaurant. Check in at hotel and free at leisure. Overnight at Silver Star Hotel.

DAY 10 MANDALAY
After breakfast at the hotel, morning visit to the famous Mahamuni Pagoda, one of the most sacred Buddha Image in Mandalay. Then a short visit to marble, bronze and Gold foil making cottage industries. Lunch at outside local restaurant.

After lunch you will be enjoying Mandalay afternoon sightseeing that begins with Mandalay Palace, Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings; Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the World’s Biggest Book for its stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures. Tour continues to Mandalay Hill, a vantage point for a panoramic view of the city and a spectacular sunset view.

It is worthy to have a stroll up the hill enjoying panoramic views from different location. Dinner at outside local

restaurant. Overnight at Silver Star Hotel.

DAY 11 MANDALAY - MEIKHTILA
After breakfast, visit to an ancient city of Amarapura, 11 km south of Mandalay highlighting Bagaya Monastery with a famous collection of Buddha images. Then proceed to 1.2 km long U Bein Wooden Bridge, built since 1782 with over 1700 huge teak pillars, is one of the worth visiting sites. The clients can have leisurely walk on the 1.2 KM long bridge. Lunch at local restaurant. Then biking to Meiktila, a small city with a pretty lake. Enjoy the early evening sightseeing tour in Meikhtila. Dinner at local restaurant and overnight at Wunzin Hotel.

DAY 12 MEIKHTILA – TAUNGOO
Breakfast. Bike from the hotel you will pass the fields and small town like Pyaw Bwe & Pyinmana. Arriving in Taungoo, check in hotel. Free at leisure. Lunch and dinner. Overnight at Amazing Kaytu Hotel.

DAY 13 TAUNGOO - YANGON
Breakfast. Bike from the hotel and back to Yangon. On the way passing through the Nyaunglaybin, Bago the ancient Mon Capita Bago is situated 80 Kilometers northeast of Yangon. Sightseeing tour highlights include Shwethalyaung, the world’s most beautiful Reclining Buddha, wood curving industry and Kyaikpun Pagoda.

Lunch at local restaurant.

Late evening arrive Yangon. Goodbye dinner at Kandawgyi Palace restaurant with cultural show. Overnight at Yuzana Hotel.

DAY 14 DEPARTURE by flight TG – 304 (1005-1150 ) or 8M-335 ( 0810-0955 )
After breakfast, free at leisure until transfer to airport for International departure.
