Trekking Tour

Trekking can be done in many places in Myanmar especially in the mountainous region of Myanmar {Burma}. Visitors have the opportunities to go and visit the tribal villages around Natma Taung {Mt. Victoria}in the Chin State , Northern western Myanmar, around the Inle lake, Pindaya or Kalaw in and around Kyaing Tong{Keng Tung}, eastern Myanmar. Visitors can not only enjoy the scenery but also interact with the villagers .Chin villages around Natma Taung {Mt.Victoria}are not only picturesque but also interesting. The women folks in these Chin villages tattoo their faces accordingly to their ancient beliefs. Some have whorls, some have spider webs designs on their faces. The villages around Kyaing Tong are of many different tribal races. There are Akhas, the Lisus, Palaungs villages among others.

Apart from the above mentioned places trekking can also be done inside many national parks in Myanmar. There are 15 ecotourism sites opened by the Myanmar  Forest Department where international visitors are welcomed.   Alaung Daw Kathapa National Park is one. It offers visitors to go long range trekking inside the forest. The Pho Kyar Elephant Camp and the Myaing Hay Wun Elephant Camps also are good places to go trekking and enjoy nature of Myanmar.

The scenery and views are of its nature and the farmers working on the fields are the most beautiful nature of life for the visitors. With the taste of these experiences the demand from the visitors to include trekking is increasing year by year. Trekking experiences are the only witness for the travelers for which they can make close observation on culture and nature of the various tribes living on the mountainous land.

There are about 135 ethnic tribes in Myanmar. They can only distinguish from one another by their dress and language. In general, each tribe occupies a different niche, either geographically or in traditional as a whole.

You cannot miss this natural wildlife parts and different tribe people stay in original style from the Northern to Southern part of Myanmar.

Sample Trekking Programs

The under-mentioned items are recommended for your trekking journey. At the villages some toiletries are required and well water or stream water will be available for bathing and washing hands. There is no separate bathing room. Mouthwash and for gargling, mineral water bottle is recommended. Other needs are sunglasses, good gripping trekking boots ( depending on the weather ), hat, sun cream, some cookies or biscuits if lunch is late. Some candies to hand out to the kids on the way.

Trekking Packages in Kalaw, Pindaya & Inle Lake


1). Day Return Kalaw Trekking options

Option ( 1 ) KALAW ( Taryaw Trekking )

Meet at your hotel with our guide and car then transfer to the starting point to start the trekking for authentic Palaung tribes village called Taryaw. This village is about 9 Km north east of Kalaw and there are two ways to get to this village. First, you can take the forest route where you will be walking among the Pine woods and by side of small mountain spring. This way is a bit shady but some time it can be muddy. So rough trekking boots are recommended. Overall, this part is more beautiful. You also have another option like taking a horse or an Ox-cart. But this is only possible if you take the Ox-cart route. So it has two different track to get to this village. Both trekking parts would meet up at the village and they take almost the same duration like 2 ½ hours. ( For one way )

Things to see at the village are Palaung ladies with their traditional costumes, tealeaf plantation and making cheroot raping using cordial leaves baking on the oven. The best part of this village is to see Palaung traditional Long House where 6 to 7 families are staying together. Lunch boxes will be arranged for this day from Kalaw. In the afternoon return back to Kalaw and overnight at Hill Top Villa. ( L )

Option ( 2 ) Kalaw - Mini Trekking - Inle Lake

Meet at your hotel with our guide and car then transfer to the starting point to start the trekking. Depart for trekking around 8.00 am and after one hour walk among 50 Slopes Mountain, you will reach to Htut Ni Village of Danu. After that you can proceed to See Kya Inn. Between Htut Ni and See Kya Inn you may be cross the small mountain. About 1h30, you can reach the See Kya Inn. Lunch at See Kya Inn Danu village with Lunch box. At that village you can make excursion to tea leaves plantations. After lunch you take a few minutes rest and go back to Pindaya. That one day return trekking trip will be about (5 hours) walk.

Overnight at Hill Top Villa. ( L )

Option ( 3 ) KALAW ( Pein Ne Bin Trekking )

Meet at your hotel with our guide and car then transfer to the starting point, trekking to the "Pein Ne Bin" Palaung tribe village which  may take about 1 hour walk for one way from Kalaw. Then visit the Palaung Hills in Kalaw surrounding area and visit the hill tribe villages seeing them with colorful traditional costumes. Lunch box will be bring by our porter.

Afternoon return back to Kalaw and overnight at Hill Top Villa.( L )

[ Trekking can normally be started early in the morning so it is necessary for an overnight stay in Kalaw before trekking. ]

3). 3Days / 3Nights trek from Kalaw to Inle Lake

Day 01. Trekking

Meet at your hotel with our guide and car then transfer to the starting point. Start for trekking about 1 hr 30m walks to Lu Pin Village where Danu tribes reside. Continue about 30m to Shar Pin village. 25m proceed to Pann Lone pagoda hill for lunch with picnic box.

After lunch, proceed to Pao villages. Walk again 45m to Pann Lone Village and another 45m to Linn Pan Village. Then to Taung Kwe Village minimum 30m trek and 35m again to Nant Thale The Village. Traditional dinner & overnight at Nant Thale The Monastery. (L, D)

Day 02. Trekking

Breakfast at the Nant Thale the Monastery. After breakfast, continue 2nd day trekking to Pao Mountainous. Trek to Baw Nin Gone village for 45m and then 45m more for Htun Gone Village. Lunch will be served at village. After lunch, proceed to Kan Hla Gone Village about  01 hr, Pe Tu Pauk Village for 02hr and after 30m, you will be at the 2nd day destination village: Htee Taing Village. Dinner & Overnight at Htee Tain Monastery. (B, L, D)

Day 03. Trekking, by boat to Inle Lake

Breakfast at the Htee Tain Monastery. After breakfast, continue for 3rd & last day trekking to Inle Lake pass through Pao Village. Trek to kyauk Su Village about 30m and another 01 hr for Ngoak Village. On the way to ngoak Village you can taste the panoramic view of Inn Lake. Then 01hr go down for Taung Che Village where Inn Thars reside 45m later, you will be in Than Taung Village, your enthusiastic destination. Farewell lunch at Thann Taung Monastery, Walk along the village about 30m to Thann Taung jetty for Nyaung Shwe by boat about 45m. Then transfer to hotel by boat. Dinner and overnight at Hotel in Inle Lake. (B, L, D)


OR

4). 3days / 3Nights trek from Pindaya to Inle Lake

Day 1 PINDAYA - YASAKYI

Meet at your hotel with our guide and car then transfer to the starting point. Start trekking to Htut Ni village at 8Am. Inhabited by the hill tribe Danu and to trek over 3 Km for about 45mins or drive for about maximum 15mins. That village has about 170 houses and over 500 people living in this village. Then stroll in the village and chat with the natives. Beside that, surrounding the Htut Ni village has little cave ( about 100ft wide ). You can observe this cave and ancient Buddha Image within this cave.

Then continue to Si Kyar Inn Village, the trekking is abouve 4Km for 1hr. This village also inhabited by the hill tribe Danu and end at 10Am. That village has about 90houses and over 500 people live. Take a rest for a while Palaung live. That village has about 70 homes and over 400 people. To trek 4Km journey takes you 1.5hrs because of climb up and rough journey. Upon arrival around about 12noon have lunch and rest in a monastery. Then stroll in the village and chat with the natives. Dinner will be served to you and overnight at monastery in Yasakyi village. ( L, D )

Day 2 YASAKYI - KANHLA KONE

After breakfast, you will mount the Mt.Yasakyi about 7000ft above sea level. The spot that offer you panoramic view. This journey takes you 2.5 hrs because of climb up and rough journey. Then climb down about 1 hr to Yasakyi village and continue to trek to Mene Taung inhabitant by the hill tribe Pa-O. In this village has about 150 houses and over 800 people live. To trek 4Km journey takes you one hr the whole return trib is climb down and smooth journey.

The climb down and continue return to Pinsein Pin where hill trip Danu live. That village has about 50 houses round about 300 people. Take a rest for a while and have lunch at village head man house.

After lunch, trekking will start to Htin Shu Kone village inhabited by the hill tribe Danu and to trek over 2 Km for about 30minutes. That village has about 50 house and 300 people live.

Then continue to Kanhla Kone Village where hill tribe Danu live. To trek over 5Km journey take you 1.5 hrs. In this village, about 100 houses and over 500 people live. At that village either you take a rest in a monastery or stroll in the village, chat and have snack and lunch with the natives.

Dinner and overnight at monastery in Kanhla Kone Village ( B, L, D )

Day 3 KANHLA KONE - ZAWGYI - PINDAYA by trekking / NYAUNG SHWE (INLE LAKE) by car

Early morning after breakfast proceed to Shwe Pahtoe village inhabited by Danu and trek over 4Km for about 1 hr. That village has about 50 houses and 300 people live. Near the Shwe Pahtoe village has incient pagoda. That Pagoda festival celebrates in full moon day of Kasone. Beside that, surrounding the village has a lake called Inya Kan. You can go over 10 mins to that lake.

Then continue to trek to Zawgyi village inhabited by Danu live and trek over 2Km for about 30 minutes. That village has about 100 houses and 500 people. Surrounding that village has Zawgyi water hole and you can go there about 10 minutes. This water hole is starting place of the Zawgyi River. The whole trip is over at the Zawgyi village. Then return back to the Pindaya and drive to Nyaung Shwe (3 hours), the gateway to Inle Lake. From there, take a boat or car ( as convenience ) to reach the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Hotel in Inle Lake. ( B, L, D )

Tour Highlight

You can observe native way of living there culture and religious type, cultivation or plantation etc.. The main business of the native people is green-tea plantation. But Shwe Pahtoe and Zawgyi villages main business is agricultural and gardening. ( Orange, paddy, sugar cane, peanut, seasonal flower etc. ) because of enough water for plant and flat.

5). 2Days / 2Nights trek from Inle Lake - Hte-Ne Village - Kakku - Taunggyi - Inle Lake

Day 1 Inle Lake - Hte - Ne Village

- Meet at your hotel, leave for Magizeik (10min) by boat

- Magizeik is an Inthar Village lays on the eastern bank of the lake also a good starting point for trekking trip to Pa-O area.

- After trekking up about 4½ hrs, passing through many Pa-O villages such as Taotan and Hte-Ta-Mong and etc... would approached another Pa-O village Hte-Ne.

- The hightlights would include passing through endless views of farms and fields and climbing up to the summit of the mountain range by a zigzag way.

- Stops would be made on the way at any convenient Pa-O villages for refreshment, disposal and leisure break

- Overnight would be made Hte-Ne village which said to be a view point over the lake and its environs.

- Would accommodate our clients at a headman's residence and dinner will follows with Pa-O food. ( L, D )

Day 2 Hte-Ne Village - Kakku - Taunggyi - Inle Lake

- Pa-O breakfast at the village follows by casual talks

- Start proceeding the trip by descending down to Nuang-Ke within 30 minutes another Pa-O village.

- One good condition car from the village would be kept ready waiting at Naung-Ke village to continue to trip 30 minutes to Kakku Pagoda complex

- Arriving Kakku Pagoda complex and would offer lunch at Hlaing Konn Restaurant.

- Hightlights of visiting would include exploring the fascinating stucco works and styles and descriptions of the ancients Buddhist stupas, lies in an area of one square kilometer.

- Departing Kakku by car to Taunggyi in the afternoon

- As time permitted more Pa-O villages could further be explored

- By chance any five day's market within the Pa-O area could also be visited.
