Yangon-Bago-Yangon
Day 1 Arrival Day (sight-seeing around Yangon) – Meal (None)
Meet with our guide who will greet you with a pack of welcome gift which includes a small souvenir, Myanmar Map and some stamped postcards of Myanmar’s sceneries. On the way to downtown, the first thing you will notice is the very clean and beautiful tree-lined roads and the well-groomed Inya Lake. Then you will realize why Yangon deserves the name “Garden City of The East “.
Along the way, you can see the activities like; buses, trishaw, vendors, students, locals at the bus stop, etc…… After check-in and refreshing, we start our tours at the city center where you will see how people of different faiths and cultures live together in harmony and peace for centuries. From afar, you can spot a pagoda shinning with pure gold plates on, that is the 2000-year-old Sule pagoda. Just beside it, you can see the beautiful Bengali Sunni Jameh Mosque and then on the other side is the Immanuel Baptist church which was built in 1885.
Then two minutes away by walk, you will reach the Ganesha Hindu Temple. Last but not least, the 120 years old Musmeah Yeshua Jewish Synagogue is about 5 minute’s walk from Sula Pagoda. By viewing Yangon City Hall, we can learn the mixture of Burmese and Western architecture, it is facing to the Independent Monument which stands gracefully in the Mahabandoola Park, where Yangoners gather for relaxation and festivals and events. Next, to the park, you can see the eyes catching Victorian style red building, the Supreme Court.
Continue exploring along the colonial area, there are many huge buildings by different architecture like Render House, Economic Bank, the office of Inland Water Transport, the District Court of Western Yangon, Myanmar Port Authority and the Custom House. The Strand Hotel and the General Post Office can be also seen along the Strand road. And then, on up north, you can see the oldest Armenian church from 1863, the Secretariat and St. Mary Cathedral of 1911.
After that, going to Kandawgyi lake, walking on the wooden bridge to see the panoramic view to the glittering Shwedagon and Karaweik hall reflection on the lake. In the late afternoon, head to the Shwedagon Pagoda which is covered with tons of gold blocks (not gold leaf ) and thousands of diamonds and other precious stones. Visiting Shwedagon is not just to see the tradition, belief, and custom but to enjoy the real life of locals like sellers of flowers, birds ‘ food, fortune tellers, families and friends praying etc. We intentionally chose to be here in the late afternoon because the temperature is cool and after sunset, everything is illuminated by a magic land. After that, back to the hotel and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 Yangon – Bago – Yangon – Meals (B)
After breakfast, start your excursion to Bago, a relaxing day to be free from bustling Yangon. The Ancient Mon Capital Hamthawaddy (known as Bago) is situated 80 Kilometers northeast of Yangon. Along the way, you can stop at Htauk Kyant War Allied Memorial place to see the record of the soldiers who gave their lives during the second world war. And then continue driving to enjoy the countryside atmospheric views including paddy fields and pottery village until you reach Bago. Sightseeing tour highlights include Kyakhatwine monastery where you will see over 1200 Buddhist monks having their merit lunch at ( 11:00) am. Then, going to Shwemawdaw Pagoda, the tallest pagoda in Myanmar built in Mon style.
Another high light of Bago, 16th-century palace Kanbawzathadi built by King Bayint Naung is also a worth place to see.Then a short visit to Shwethalyaung Buddha Image, the old reclining Buddha since 994 A D. And then drive back to Yangon, on the way you can see the four gigantic sitting Buddhas in Mon style known as Kyaik Pun Pagoda. Drive back to Yangon and overnight in Yangon.
Day 3 Departure with evening flight
After breakfast, meet with our guide and off to the central train station to take a local train to see the morning market in Insein, where you can see all kinds of colourful flowers, fresh vegetables, fruits, fishes, meats, clothes, herbal medicine, tailors, etc……. Then, visit Kalaywa monastery to see the lunchtime of monastic life and nunnery. And then, going to the local tea shop where you can taste local snacks with local tea like real local. Myanmar inherited the tea culture ( sweet tea ) from the British but today we drink more tea ( sweet tea ) than any nation in the world.
Every street has more than one tea shop and they are popular local places, not only for chatting, laughing and light snacks but also serve as business meeting place for brokers. After that, taking the experience of trishaw ride around the residential area. And then, going to Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha Image which is so impressive with handmade glass eyes and detail food prints. And then shopping at Bogyoke market (Scott market), it is a busy market which was built in 1926 and there have over 2000 shops selling fashion, jewellery and souvenirs. Don’t forget to bargain when you buy jewellery and more importantly, be sure to buy from a licensed shop which can provide you with a certificate so you don’t have a problem with the customs at the airport. After shopping, drive to the International airport for your departure.
04. Inle Lake
Breakfast at the hotel and then visit to Cheroot making factory, Boat making carpentry workshop, Silk weaving factory. In the late afternoon, visit the most famous Paungdaw Oo Pagoda.
On the way back to Nyaung Shwe you will pass through on the lake including a visit to weaving factory of Inpaw Khone, some villages to enjoy life on the lake.
Lunch at the local restaurant. Romantic Dinner at the hotel with your beloved. Overnight at Inle Princess Resort Hotel, Chalet Lake Front view room, (B/L/D)
